Jadon Sancho (7/10)

Another game, another Jadon Sancho assist, this time for Jacob Bruun Larsen. It was a beautifully timed through ball by the Englishman and it went through Kamil Glik’s legs into the Dane’s path, who timed his run perfectly. Sancho linked up well with his teammates and caused plenty of problems to the Monaco defense, especially in the second half. He will be disappointed not to have scored when he got one on one with the goalkeeper, but his chipped shot went over the bar.

Marco Reus (9/10)

It was a captain’s performance by Marco Reus as he put in a real shift today. He was involved in almost all of Dortmund’s attacks and he also tracked back to help out defensively. Reus got the assist for Alcacer’s goal before getting on the scoresheet himself with the final kick of the game. A complete performance by the Dortmund skipper, who made a game high four key passes, had the most successful dribbles (3) and also made the joint most interceptions (4). Oh and he also won the penalty for Dortmund.

Marius Wolf (5/10)

Wolf came closest to scoring for Borussia Dortmund in the first half with a lovely turn and shot in a crowded penalty area. But his effort was spectacularly saved by the outstretched Diego Benaglio, who got injured in the process. But other than that, it was another lackluster performance by the former Frankfurt man. He was replaced by Bruun Larsen at half time, who scored just five minutes after coming on.

Paco Alcacer (7/10)

Alcacer hit the bar with his second half penalty but made up for his mistake just minutes later by grabbing Borussia Dortmund’s second goal. He showed great composure to find the back of the net after being found by Marco Reus in a very crowded box. The Spaniard linked up well with Marco Reus and was always getting in great positions. A promising full debut for Alcacer despite the penalty miss.

Substitutes

Jacob Bruun Larsen (8/10)

Scored just five minutes after coming on by getting on the end of Jadon Sancho’s through ball. It was a brilliantly timed run and a lovely finish by the Dane, who now has three goals in three games for Borussia Dortmund. Bruun Larsen was full of energy and never stopped running, as was evident by his sharp assist for Marco Reus in the final minute.

Julian Weigl (7/10)

As soon as Weigl came on, Borussia Dortmund started to play with a much higher tempo. He played some impressive forward passes and showed great intent, while making sure that Monaco did not get too many chances

Maximilian Philipp (N/R)

Came on for Jadon Sancho with eight minutes to go and nearly got an assist but Marco Reus was denied by the goalkeeper.
