Lukasz Piszczek (8/10)

Piszczek is another player who got better as the game went on. He was caught out a few times in the first half as his team were struggling but put on one of his best displays in recent months in the second period. He was a threat going forward, while being solid and disciplined defensively. He kept Franck Ribery quiet all game and made a whopping 11 clearances. He also won a game high four tackles, made three interceptions, won 100% of his aerial duels and got the assist for Marco Reus’ equaliser. Numbers dont always tell the story in football, but in the case of Piszczek, they perfectly show just how good he was.

Manuel Akanji (7/10)

Akanji was one of the reasons why Bayern did not run away with the game in the first half. He made several important blocks and interceptions to keep the scoreline at 1-0. And the Swiss international was immense in the second half, helping his side play out from the back despite heavy pressure from Bayern. He completed 90% of his passes and also made two interceptions and five clearances.

Dan Axel Zagadou (7/10)

Probably should have done better to get closer to Lewandowski for Bayern’s opener but other than that it was another impressive performance by the young Frenchman. Like Akanji, Zagadou was always calm and composed on the ball despite heavy pressing from Bayern. He did have a few nervy moments with Lewandowski but ultimately came out on top and made several important clearances and tackles for his side.

Achraf Hakimi (7/10)

When Bayern were on top, Hakimi did not look too comfortable as Serge Gnabry was causing him all sorts of problems. But as the game went on and Dortmund started to get more of the ball, we saw more of the Hakimi we are used to seeing. He ran non stop to help his side have an extra man on the counter attack, and was always quick to get back in his position after Bayern won back the ball. The Moroccon international had a game high two key passes and was unlucky Reus didn’t score after getting on the end of his cross in the second half. Hakimi also won four tackles and four clearances to help Dortmund get the win.
