Axel Witsel (9/10)

Another game, another top class performance by Axel Witsel. The Belgian international was a giant in midfield once again for Borussia Dortmund and ran the show for his side. He completed 100% of his passes in the first half despite being under pressure by Bayern throughout and made sure that his side did not lose their composure despite going 1-0 down. He got more and more chances to get forward in the second half as the game became much more open and he picked Paco Alcacer out with a peach of a through ball, and the Spaniard gave Borussia Dortmund the lead. Had Thomas Muller in his pocket all game and was cool as a cucumber throughout the 90 minutes.

Julian Weigl (4/10)

Weigl was given a surprise start by Lucien Favre and he looked rusty and slow as Bayern dominated the first half. The young midfielder could not cope with Bayern’s physicality and was outmuscled and outplayed in midfield. Was also booked for a late challenge before being replaced by Mahmoud Dahoud at half time.
