The Lucien Favre effect

While the players deserve high praise, the impact head coach Lucien Favre has had on this team since taking over in the summer cannot be diminished. The Swiss tactician has worked wonders with the Dortmund squad and has improved nearly every player in the team. He has won over supporters quickly with his attack minded approach to the game and he has found the right system with the 4-2-3-1 formation.

After the disappointment that was last season, Lucien Favre has brought joy back to Borussia Dortmund once again. To take a newly built, youthful squad and keep them unbeaten in the league for the first third of the season is an achievement in itself. Since arriving at Dortmund, Favre has shored up the defense, made the midfield stronger and has turned the attack into a force to be reckoned with.

Always the perfectionist, Favre said he improvements from his team even after their win against Bayern Munich. He demands perfection from his players and the players are responding to that on the pitch. His man management has helped get the best out of them so far. Dortmund have a big squad and it is not easy to keep everyone happy, but Favre’s rotation policy has helped nearly everyone get game time and time spirit is at an all time high.

Even when Dortmund are losing or not playing well, Favre knows what to change and when to make the changes. Borussia Dortmund have scored 18 goals by substitutes in all competitions, more than any other side in the top five leagues.

Lucien Favre has electrified the Bundesliga and he can lead Borussia Dortmund to their first league title since 2012.
