Bayern’s woes

Bayern Munich were the favorites to retain the Bundesliga title at the start of the season, but things haven’t gone too well for the Bavarian giants under Niko Kovac so far. They are languishing in fifth place in the league table, seven points behind Borussia Dortmund. Troubles both on and off the pitch have hurt the defending champions so far this season. And Borussia Dortmund have a great opportunity to take advantage of their issues.

Bayern have already suffered three defeats this season, just one less than the number of defeats they suffered over the course of last season.

Despite their woes, it would be unfair to rule Bayern out of the title race just yet. They showed against Dortmund on Saturday that they are still capable of performing at the highest level, and will claw their way back into the title race with two-thirds of the season still to go.

But Borussia Dortmund won’t get a better opportunity to steal the Bundesliga title away from Bayern. And if they can continue to perform and get results after the international break, they could well be the ones celebrating, come May.
