The international break is over but transfer speculation is in full swing and today’s rumors suggest that Borussia Dortmund could be in for another busy summer ahead.

Thorgan Hazard

According to BILD, Borussia Monchengladbach winger Thorgan Hazard is on top of Borussia Dortmund’s wishlist and the Black and Yellows could use Axel Witsel to convince his compatriot to join the club. Hazard is in the form of his life and has played an important role in Gladbach’s impressive start to the season. His current contract expires in 2020 and Borussia Dortmund could look to sign him as a potential replacement for Christian Pulisic.

Lucien Favre signed Hazard on loan from Chelsea in 2014 and knows all about the midfielder. So it shouldn’t be a surprise if Borussia Dortmund make a move for the 25 year old in the summer.

Ousmane Dembele

According to Die Welt, Borussia Dortmund will receive a whopping 30 million euros if Barcelona decide to sell Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman left Borussia Dortmund to join Barcelona for 105 million euros last summer, but has struggled with injuries and attitude problems.

Reports have suggested that Barcelona could sell him to a Premier League club in January. And Borussia Dortmund could be set for a big pay-off if they decide to get rid of the 21 year old winger.

Julian Weigl

Sport BILD also say that while Borussia Dortmund have no intention of selling Julian Weigl in January, the midfielder could depart in the summer. The report adds that Arsenal have joined the race for his signature, with former Borussia Dortmund scout Sven Mislintat hoping to bring him to his current club. Weigl has fallen down the pecking order since the arrivals of Axel Witsel and Thomas Delaney and has made only six appearances for the first team. His contract expires in 2021 and Dortmund could look to cash in on him unless his situation changes before the end of the season.

Weigl was linked with Manchester City and Paris St. Germain in the summer but a move failed to materialize.

Sebastian Rode

Rode, on the other hand, is free to leave Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder’s last appearance for the club came in May 2017. He has since struggled with injuries and is not a part of Lucien Favre’s plans. VFB Stuttgart are thought to be interested in signing Rode, who joined Borussia Dortmund for 15 million euros from Bayern Munich in 2016. With Dortmund desperate to sell, a January transfer is possible. A move to Stuttgart would see Rode reunite with Gonzalo Castro, who joined the club last summer.

Timo Werner

According to Sport BILD, RB Leipzig expect Borussia Dortmund to make a bid for star striker Timo Werner. The 22 year old’s contract expires at the end of next season and a number of big clubs including Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool are thought to be interested in signing him.

The Black and Yellows are expected to sign Paco Alcacer on a permanent transfer next summer. And its unlikely that either Alcacer or Werner will want to play second fiddle to the other. So it will be interesting to see if Borussia Dortmund hold an actual interest in signing the German international.
