Lukasz Piszczek – 8/10

Another strong showing from the Polish right back. After a shaky start to the season Piszczek has been very solid in recent games helping to solidify the Dortmund back line. Although he has lost some speed with his age his experience has more than made up for it as his good run of form continues. He nearly scored once again, hitting the crossbar on an exceptional shot late in the second half.

Abdou Diallo – 7/10

Diallo was back in the starting lineup in his preferred center back role and we were reminded of just how reliable he is in that position. After a very strong start to the season he had been replaced by Dan Axel Zagadou due to injury and had a hard time getting back into his spot with how well Zagadou had been playing. With Akanji picking up a knock against Brugge, Diallo has been able to showcase his ability once more and should be in the starting lineup again next week.

Dan Axel Zagadou – 6/10

After weeks of strong performances Zagadou had a slight set back today. Making a couple errors his biggest leading to a great chance for Freiburg to get in on goal. Without the pace of Hakimi to stop the Freiburg attacker the scoreline could have been very different early in the game. Zagadou was unlucky to what looked like roll or sprain his ankle in the 36th minute. Hopefully the injury isn’t anything serious as his recent run of good form has had him moving up the pecking order of BVB’s center backs.

Achraf Hakimi – 7.5/10

A MUST BUY. Hakimi’s two year loan deal was a great piece of business my Michael Zorc, but game after game his great play has me seeing his value increase time after time. His recovery on Zagadou’s error early in the game was a display of his exceptional pace and athleticism. There are few players in the Bundesliga that can keep up with Hakimi’s pace and natural athleticism. Borussia Dortmund fans should be very happy they have two full years of Hakimi and hopefully in the end the BVB bosses can make the deal permanent.
