Jadon Sancho – 8/10

Wow can this kid dribble. Sancho once again showed off his exceptional control of the ball throughout the 90 minutes. He drew a penalty doing exactly that, drawing in Dominique Heintz with his quick feet to move the ball out of his reach at the last second with Heintz forcing contact for the PK. He was crucial in the creation of Dortmunds second goal beating the Freiburg defender to find Piszczek in open space to set up Alcacer.  Anyone who missed him dribbling through 4 Freiburg players at midfield to end the game, go find a clip of that it’s insane.

Marco Reus – 7.5/10

9 goals in 13 games. It was a penalty today for his goal but we are once again seeing the exceptional player that Reus is now that he has an extended run of games with good health. It can’t be understated how important his play and continued health is to the success Dortmund will have this year. He could have had more than just the one goal today if a few balls hadn’t been blocked after him shooting or right before he was able to get a shot off.

Jacob Bruun Larsen – 7.5/10

Jacob Bruun Larsen has worked his way into a starting role under Favre with his consistent and reliable play on the wing. Very defensively responsible player that makes the simple play to keep the build up alive. Today we saw a completely different side of Bruun Larsen, taking on defenders 1v1 and having a lot of success. He was slicing through Freiburg’s defence throughout the 90 minutes and at the end was unlucky to not get on the scoresheet through a goal or assist with the chances that were created from his runs.

Mario Gotze – 7/10

Gotze has quietly been a very effective player leading the line for Borussia Dortmund. His good play isn’t always reflected in goals and assists but his ability to drop into the build up and move the ball in tight spaces opens up passing lanes that wouldn’t normally be there. It’s a pretty deadly combination having Gotze to start the game to allow Dortmund to get their momentum going before Paco gets subbed on to finish the chances that come later.
