Omer Toprak – 7/10

Toprak was brought on in the 37th minute when Zagadou was taken off injured. A quietly solid game for Toprak who has gone from a 1st choice center back last year to the end of the depth chart this year. Largely not his fault, the young guys have just been playing so well it’s been hard to justify taking them out for Toprak thus far. With both Aknanji injured and now potentially Zagadou, we may see somewhat of an extended run in the starting lineup for Toprak depending on the severity of the injuries.

Paco Alcacer – 6.5/10

It’s odd to give a player who scored a goal a 6.5 rating but aside from finishing off the one chance he had, Paco Alcacer wasn’t very influential for the minutes he played today. As long as he keeps scoring you won’t hear too many complaints from BVB fans!

Maximilian Philipp – 6.5/10

It’s tough to get fully into the game only playing 10 minutes or so but Philipp was able to have an immediate impact coming on. He played a massive role in creating the second goal for BVB. Picking the ball up near midfield and burning his defender before finding Sancho further up the field. With Gotze now starting up top, I hope we see more of Philipp on the wing or in the 10 spot to give Reus a rest when needed. Those positions suit him a bit more than a lone striker role and we could see more goal involvement from Philipp as a result.
