Lukasz Piszczek – 6/10

Out of the defense that started the game, Piszczek was the lone bright spot, and even he too had nervy moments. His only real defensive short comings came when Dortmund were chasing the game and pushing men forward up the pitch to try and claw back into the game. Very solid going forward, Piszczek had another solid game grabbing the assist on Paco’s goal with a fantastic chipped cross. But he also had a few lapses in concentration and lost the ball in dangerous areas way too often.

Manuel Akanji – 5.5/10

Definitely Akanji’s worst game since joining Borussia Dortmund. It was much to easy for Dusseldorf to send Lukebakio on a breakaway beating both Akanji and Diallo with a simple long ball right up the middle of the field. Akanji was caught sleeping on that play as he wasn’t aware of Lukebakio’s positioning. He was directly at fault for the biggest miss of the game as a Dusseldorf cross hit almost directly at him found it’s way across goal to a wide open Usami, who fortunately fired wide. Akanji picked up a knock during the game and was subbed off at half. One of Dortmund’s most important players, hopefully it is minor and he can potentially feature Friday when Dortmund take on Monchengladbach.

Abdou Diallo – 6/10

Diallo didn’t cover himself in glory either today. He was the one man marking Lukebakio when he scored on his breakaway off a long ball. The pair of Akanji and Diallo just were not at the level we have come to expect today.

Marcel Schmelzer – 5/10

Schmelzer made his return to the Bundesliga after a long absence against Dusseldorf. Not the best come back and not the worst. He had a few misplaced passes but is still shaking the rust off from his ten week long injury. It looked as he was very out of position on the second goal as he hesitated in the middle of the field because Diallo had started to drift off his man. He was still able to close the space down but it didn’t matter as Zimmer launched a bullet from 25 yards out to double his side’s lead.
