The Bundesliga has stopped for a four week long winter break with Borussia Dortmund sitting pretty at the top of the table with a six point lead over rivals Bayern Munich.

Confidence is at an all time high in the Borussia Dortmund camp heading into the winter break and fans will be hoping that the second half of the season is just as good as the first half. While the action has come to a halt, there is no shortage of news and rumors involving the Black and Yellows. So here is a roundup of this weekend’s news.

Borussia Dortmund to have winter training camp in Spain

The Black and Yellows will prepare for the second half of the season with a week long training camp in Marbella. Lucien Favre will take his squad to the sunny southern Spain on January 4 and the team will take part in two test matches before the Bundesliga resumes. Der BVB will face Fortuna Düsseldorf on January 7, before taking on Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam on January 11. Dortmund’s next league game will see them travel to RB Leipzig on January 19.

Sebastian Rode set to join Frankfurt on loan

Borussia Dortmund outcast Sebastian Rode is set to leave the club in January and will spend the second half of the season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Kicker. Rode has struggled with injuries since moving to Dortmund in 2016. His last competitive appearance for the first team came in last season’s DFL Supercup. Rode is currently out of favor at Dortmund, and will return to the team where he spent four years before joining Bayern Munich.

Peter Bosz named Leverkusen head coach

Former Borussia Dortmund head coach Peter Bosz has joined Bayer Leverkusen, replacing Heiko Herrlich, who was sacked earlier today. Bosz took charge of Borussia Dortmund in August 2017, but was sacked just four months later after a two month long winless run and no wins in the UEFA Champions League. The Dutchman will make his return to the Signal Iduna Park on February 24, when Dortmund and Leverkusen face off.

Chelsea reject Hudson Odoi swap offer

According to Goal, Borussia Dortmund have joined the race to sign Chelsea wonderkid Callum Hudson Odoi and made an approach for the winger when Chelsea inquired about Christian Pulisic’s availability. Dortmund wanted to do a swap deal, with Pulisic moving to England, and Hudson Odoi coming the other way, but it was rejected by Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if Borussia Dortmund make another move for Hudson Odoi, but face competition for his signature from Bayern Munich. With Christian Pulisic set to leave either in January or in the summer, it is likely that the Black and Yellows will sign a new winger to replace him in the squad.
