Alcacer hat-trick helps Borussia Dortmund win thriller

If there was a craziest game of the year award, this game would surely win it. What an absolute thriller it was!

Borussia Dortmund started poorly and fell behind in the 22nd minute. They created several chances but were left frustrated as they went into half time a goal behind. Then Lucien Favre introduced Paco Alcacer from the bench in the 60th minute, and the Spaniard made it 1-1 just minutes later after getting on the end of Jadon Sancho’s cross.

Augsburg retook the lead, but Alcacer responded once again, this time after a clever freekick by Raphael Guerreiro. After months of question marks about his future, Mario Gotze came off the bench to give Borussia Dortmund the lead in the 84th minute. Michael Gregoritsch thought he had rescued a point for the away side when he scored just minutes later, before Borussia Dortmund got a free kick in the 96th minute.

Up stepped Paco Alcacer and he curled one in from 25 yards out to send the Signal Iduna Park into raptures. It was a sensational strike to seal a stunning hattrick and it gave his side a priceless win in the context of the title race.
