Borussia Dortmund seal first Revierderby win in three years

The final game in this list is probably the most special one for Borussia Dortmund fans. High flying Borussia Dortmund went into the game against their struggling neighbors full of confidence. And they took the lead in the eighth minute through Thomas Delaney, who got on the end of Marco Reus’ freekick and headed the ball into the net. Not a bad way to score your first Borussia Dortmund goal!

Der BVB continued to dominate but failed to double their advantage. And Schalke found their way back into the game when Reus was adjudged to have fouled Amine Harit inside the box by the VAR. The decision may have been a wrong one but Daniel Caligiuri sent Roman Burki the wrong way and made it 1-1 for the home side.

But Borussia Dortmund weren’t to be denied and up stepped Jadon Sancho to score the winner and create history. The Englishman played a clever 1-2 with Raphael Guerreiro before slotting the ball home past the goalkeeper into the bottom corner. It was a memorable goal for Jadon Sancho and it helped him become the youngest player ever to score in a Revierderby.

The win helped Borussia Dortmund open up a 22 point lead over their nearest rivals (the lead now stands at 24 points) and continue their incredible start to the season.
