Viktor Tsyhankov

Viktor Tsyhankov is a name some Dortmund fans may be familiar with. Having been linked with the club earlier this season, Die Schwarzgelben reportedly mounted a bid of 16 Million euros for the Dynamo Kiev winger, which, according to Kirill Krzyhanovsky of “Telegram Channel” was rebuffed as being too small a sum for their star man. Tsyhankov has been compared to both Andriy Yarmolenko and Arjen Robben because of his performances for Dynamo Kiev.

Viktor Tsyhankov’s natural position is that of a right winger, but he is also able to play on the left and as an inside forward, making him a versatile option for any coach to have on their team. With Lucien Favre’s tendency to rotate which side the wingers play on during the game, this could make Tsyhankov an asset. As for the 2018/19 season, Tsyhankov has scored 9 and assisted 3 goals, which sees the young Ukrainian international sitting second in the race for goals scored, behind only Júnior Moraes of Shakhtar Donetsk.

While he is currently valued at 10 million euros, the aforementioned sum of 16 million offered by Dortmund was obviously not enough for Dynamo Kiev to part with their prized asset. With the sale of Pulisic, however, Borussia Dortmund could afford to bump their offer up a few million euros to seal Tsyhankov’s services.

The main threat would not come from their inability to pay for the player, but from other clubs circling the Ukrainian international, as Tottenham have also been reportedly linked with signing Tsyhankov, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino reportedly an admirer of the player. I have to admit that I myself am a fan of Tsyhankov’s playstyle, and would hope that he is one of the serious prospects considered as the American international’s replacement.
