Marwin Hitz

Marwin Hitz joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer from Augsburg, with the aim to provide more competition for Roman Burki, who made some very costly mistakes last season. In that regard, the Swiss goalkeeper has done his job perfectly, as Burki is having the best season of his life and has hardly made any errors.

Hitz hasn’t had too many chances to play this season due to the great level of performances shown by his Swiss compatriot, who has been the savior for Borussia Dortmund in many matches this season. The 30 year old did play in the Pokal game against Union Berlin and the Champions League dead rubber against Monaco. But his biggest test came when Roman Burki suffered an injury before Der Klassiker, forcing Hitz to step up. He has been solid whenever called upon, but has also been a touch too slow in some situations. But what is undeniable is that Hitz is a goalkeeper with a lot of quality and he can step up if Burki gets injured again.
