Axel Witsel

Axel Witsel is heads this list after being the player with the biggest impact for Borussia Dortmund this season. The Belgian midfielder joined Dortmund from Tianjin Quanjian of China for a fee of €20 million after an amazing World Cup.

And the 29 year old has quickly established himself as one of the most important players for Borussia Dortmund, dominating games week in, week out. Witsel always knows where to be, and he is ever so calm with the ball at his feet.

He is also a great leader both on and off the pitch, giving Dortmund a player with both experience and quality, something that the squad was lacking last season. Witsel has also scored three hugely important goals for the Black and Yellows so far.

The huge impact of Axel Witsel for the Black and Yellow this season, including the best percentage of complete passes in the UEFA Champions League, the transformation of Borussia Dortmund’s midfield, his ability to defend and to build up attacks for the team make him a vital cog in Lucien Favre’s system.
