Bayern Munich reduced Borussia Dortmund’s lead at the top of the table to just two points thanks to a 3-2 win over Augsburg, while Claudio Pizarro made history for Werder Bremen on Matchday 22 of the Bundesliga season.

Augsburg stunned Bayern by taking the lead after just 15 seconds after a well worked move ended with Leon Goretzka scoring an own goal. Bayern responded by going on the offense and got their equaliser in the 17th minute through Kingsley Coman. Ji Dong-won then fired Augsburg back in front with a goal very similar to their opener. But Coman got Bayern level once again on the stroke of half time. David Alaba gave Bayern the lead in the 53rd minute, and the Bavarians held on to claim a priceless win to move just two points behind Borussia Dortmund, albeit having played a game more.

In the late kick-off on Saturday, Claudio Pizarro scored in the 96th minute to help Werder Bremen earn a 1-1 draw against Hertha Berlin at the Olympic Stadium. The goal helped Pizarro become the oldest goal-scorer in Bundesliga history. The 40 year old has now scored a Bundesliga goal in each of the 21 seasons he has played in the league.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach played out a 1-1 draw with Danny da Costa and Denis Zakaria finding the net. While goals from Kai Havertz and Leon Bailey either side of half time helped Bayer Leverkusen beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-0 and move up to fifth place in the league table.
