Borussia Dortmund are still without full-backs Lukasz Piszczek and Achraf Hakimi. While Dan Axel Zagadou is also out with a knee injury. But Christian Pulisic and Raphael Guerreiro are fit once again and have traveled with the squad to Freiburg.

Injuries have hurt SC Freiburg the most this season. With key players Nils Petersen and Lucas Holer out, Luca Waldschmidt has stepped in their place. Waldschmidt joined Freiburg from Hamburger and is doing well considering how difficult the season has been for his club. Waldschmidt has 8 goals and 3 assists this term and will be hoping to breakdown a Dortmund defense that isn’t always in top form.

Borussia Dortmund took care of Freiburg with ease during the reverse fixture at the Signal Iduna Park. Marco Reus converted a penalty after 40 minutes to give Dortmund the lead. Freiburg put up a fight, but their players were unable to score an equalizing goal. In stoppage time, a great linkup play between Sancho, Piszczek, and Alcacer saw the latter find the back of the net and seal the three points for the Black and Yellows.
