Final Thoughts and Assessments

With a result such as this to come to terms with, its hard to look forward to the next games with absolute optimism. Dortmund play Werder Bremen away from home next weekend, which is sure to be a tough fixture. Reus and Wolf missing this game could have an impact on Dortmund’s play, with Reus responsible for much of the creativity in play and Wolf being yet another casualty at right back for the team. The rest of the squad will have to step up and put in some stellar performances in their absence.

All hope his not lost, however, and Dortmund fans have Nürnberg to thank for this as they held Bayern to a draw on Sunday, meaning Dortmund are still within a win’s distance of the Bavarians with the gap only extending to 2 points. While the title is well and truly in Bayern’s hands, their upcoming fixtures are equally tricky, and considering Leipzig and Frankfurt are both much better teams than Nürnberg, perhaps they too can deliver critical blows that can help Dortmund get across the finish line with the Meisterschale in their grasp.
