The Borussia Dortmund transfer rumors were flying Tuesday claiming some key additions and potential departures are getting closer to being official.

Borussia Dortmund will be facing changes this summer once again as they enter the second year of their transitional phase that started last summer. With the season coming to an end for Dortmund after this week, the transfer rumors have started to and will continue to intensify.

The rumor with the most credibility at this point is the signing of Nico Schulz from Hoffenheim for a reported fee of €25 million. Both Bild and Kicker reported that the agreement is done and will be announced after the last match day this weekend. without a clear cut starter in the squad, the left-back position is undoubtedly in need of strengthening this summer. Although there are definitely better left-back options out there for Dortmund, Schulz is a Bundesliga proven defender who has recently broken into the German squad. Those are huge positives for Zorc who places those qualities high on his player evaluation.

Kicker were also reporting that Thorgan Hazard is getting closer to a confirmed transfer to Dortmund. Max Eberl, the Gladbach Sporting Director, said multiple times it would potentially take more than €40 million to pry Hazard away from Gladbach. Kicker is stating that the transfer fee could be lower than €30 million when all is said and done. That would be a great bargain for Borussia Dortmund in this summers transfer window.

Ruhr Nachrichten gave a summary of the other rumors surrounding Borussia Dortmund, the most interesting being the continuing interest in Julian Brandt. Brandt’s destination will depend on if Leverkusen can secure Champions League football for next year. If they are successful, Brandt is likely to stay another year. If they are unsuccessful, Brandt is likely to leave by way of his €25 million release clause.

They are also reporting heightened interest in Alex Isak, specifically from Anderlecht. They are reportedly willing to pay €9 million for the 19 year old. Isak is an interesting case, he is having a very successful loan spell with Willem II and Dortmund are in need of striker reinforcements this summer. The question Dortmund face is, are a club of their size ready to  put their trust in an injury prone Alcacer with a 19 year old Isak as the lone back up.

There are several players who face decisions on staying or finding a new team: Maximillian Philipp, Julian Weigl, Omer Toprak and Mahmoud Dahoud are the highest profile ones. They’re all players who have struggled for game time this season at one point or another and are far from where they want to be with Dortmund. Along with those players, Mario Gotze and Raphael Guerreiro are in need of contract extensions. Hopefully both are locked up sooner than later.
