Borussia Dortmund will be hoping for a miraculous turnaround on the final day of the season as they travel to Borussia Monchengladbach in search of their first league title since 2012.

Borussia Dortmund’s win over Fortuna Dusseldorf last weekend was enough to take the Bundesliga title race to the final day of the season. But the Black and Yellows are still two points behind Bayern and have it all to do. Lucien Favre’s men must beat Borussia Monchengladbach and hope that Eintracht Frankfurt can beat Bayern at the Allianz Arena if they are to topple their Bavarian rivals to lift the Meisterschale tomorrow.

Borussia Dortmund’s unbelievable ability to shoot themselves in the foot has hurt them quite a bit in the title race this season. And defensive lapses nearly cost them once again last weekend, but thankfully they were able to come away with a 3-2 win against Fortuna Dusseldorf. Christian Pulisic, Thomas Delaney and Mario Gotze all found the net for the Black and Yellows, as they reduced the deficit to Bayern Munich to two points with one game to go.

Like Borussia Dortmund, Gladbach have also endured a rough 2019. But Dieter Hecking’s side have somewhat improved in recent weeks and are in fourth place heading into the final day of the season. Last week’s thrashing of Nuremberg meant that they control their own destiny, and a win or a draw on Saturday should see them qualify for next season’s Champions League. They have enough quality in their ranks to cause problems to the Dortmund defense.

Team News

Borussia Dortmund will welcome captain Marco Reus back to the squad after he missed the last two games due to suspension. Marius Wolf is still out suspended, while Dan Axel Zagadou and Abdou Diallo are injury doubts. Roman Burki should return after missing last week’s win with an injury.

Gladbach will be without the suspended Florian Neuhaus and the injured attacking duo of Raffael and Lars Stindl.

The last time the two sides met was back in December when Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a 2-1 win at home to extend their lead at the top of their table to six points. Jadon Sancho opened the scoring with a brilliant finish, before Cristoph Kramer netted a contentious equaliser. Marco Reus put Dortmund back in front ten minutes after the break with a simple finish after some brilliant work by Mario Gotze.

Borussia Dortmund hung on to claim the victory and end the year on top of the table.
