Omer Toprak

Toprak had a rough season, originally signed to start and bring Bundesliga experience to a squad still struggling to replace Mats Hummels. He was a victim of the strength of the younger center-backs Borussia Dormtund have brought in over the past two years. Akanji has asserted himself as the number one option on the back end. Both Abdou Diallo and Dan-Axel Zagadou took their chances when given and established themselves ahead of Toprak.

The Turkish international has also been very unlucky with injuries and the timing of them. With the signing of Leonardo Balerdi, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Toprak look for a new club this season. He is still a very capable center-back who should be higher than 4th on the depth chart.
