5 players that could leave Borussia Dortmund this summer

Marcel Schmelzer

Marcel Schmelzer has 251 Bundesliga appearances, all with Borussia Dortmund. It will be a sad day in Dortmund when he does leave, which looks like it could be this summer. He hasn’t been at his best these past couple seasons but he hasn’t been nearly as bad as some make it out to be. He is still more than capable of playing a role for Dortmund, although that would now be a depth role.

Unfortunately, it’s clear Lucien Favre does not trust him to play for Dortmund. With Hakimi, and Diallo injured down the stretch this season, Favre elected to play Guerreiro at left-back over Schmelzer. It would be nice if Schmelzer could finish his career at Dortmund. Regardless, if he stays or if that was his last appearance in a Dortmund jersey, Marcel Schmelzer is a Dortmund legend.
