Maximilian Philipp

Maximilian Philipp really struggled this season, in large part due to the fact he was forced to play out of position for the majority of the year. Without a natural striker to start the season, Philipp was tasked with leading the front line. Which although he is capable of doing, it is definitely not his best position. Before getting injured in the 2017/2018 season he showed just how lethal he can be from the wing notching 5 goals and 2 assists in his first 10 games. I honestly can’t remember more than maybe one time this past season that he was given a chance on the wing.

With Brandt and Hazard being brought in, that is unlikely to change heading into the new season. There are several Bundesliga teams that can use his services week in week out, so it would be surprising if Philipp is still with Dortmund come August.
