Lukasz Piszczek (7.5/10)

Piszczek is another player who proved his doubters wrong this season. The veteran right back was one of the first names on the teamsheet and played a crucial role in Borussia Dortmund’s stunning first half of the season. He was a threat going forward and ever reliable defensively, showing that he is still at the top of the game. He got six assists in 20 Bundesliga appearances and also scored an important winner against Mainz in November.

Unfortunately, he struggled with a heel injury for most of the second half of the season and Borussia Dortmund really missed his leadership and composure in defense.

Marius Wolf (6.5/10)

Signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for 5 million euros, Marius Wolf really struggled in the first half of the season and his lack of technical ability going forward meant that Lucien Favre only rarely used him. But then Piszczek got injured and Favre decided to turn Wolf into a right back. And that move paid dividends as we saw the best of the 23 year old in his new role.

Wolf looked very comfortable in his new position and proved to be rather solid defensively, especially for a winger. He also looked much more threatening going forward as the season progressed.

Wolf did have a moment of madness against Schalke as he was sent off for an unnecessary tackle from behind, ending his season three games too early.
