Abdou Diallo (6.5/10)

Signed for a big money fee from Mainz in the summer, Diallo started as a centre back before injuries forced Lucien Favre to play him at left back. The Frenchman looked more comfortable in the middle of the defense, but was largely solid even at left back, despite not being a big threat going forward.

He made a total of 38 appearances in all competitions this season, the most out of all Borussia Dortmund defenders. The France U21s captain put in consistently assured displays, and he can take a lot of positives from his debut campaign. However, he just isn’t good enough going forward to play as a left back, and fans will be hoping that he isn’t used in that role next season.

Omer Toprak (5/10)

Omer Toprak was probably the most unluckiest Dortmund player this season. He got injured at the worst possible times and when he came back, he found it hard to get his chance. The Turkish international only got 230 minutes of league action this season, and looked a little rusty at times.

At the age of 29, he still has a few good years left in him. Toprak is too good to just sit on the bench and he would be better off leaving in the summer and becoming a starting centre half elsewhere.
