Mario Gotze (8/10)

Mario Gotze was the player of the second half of the season. While the majority of the Dortmund squad struggled to replicate their form of the first half, Gotze was the complete opposite. He didn’t feature as much in the first half of the season, he was either injured or not in Favre’s preferred eleven.

When Favre started using Gotze more and more with Alcacer unable to start games back to back, that’s when we saw Gotze emerge. Gotze finished the year with 7 goals and 7 assists, with 6 of his goals and 4 of his assists coming in the final 17 games.

Gotze is also without a contract after this coming season and it should be priority number one right now for Watzke and Zorc to get him extended as soon as possible.
