Loser: Raphael Guerreiro

When a big signing arrives, it usually means that an existing player will lose his spot. And in this case, it unfortunately seems like Raphael Guerreiro will be the one to lose his place in the starting lineup. Hazard’s preferred position is down the left wing, while Brandt is capable of playing on the wing and through the middle, and Schulz is expected to take over the left back role.

Which means that all three positions which Guerreiro can play in have now been bolstered. So he is no longer a guaranteed starter, which is a shame because he actually had a very good season personally.

Over the course of a season, teams need strength in depth, and Guerreiro will certainly provide that. But with his contract set to expire at the end of next season, he could opt for a move away from Borussia Dortmund. So it will be interesting to see whether Guerreiro stays and fights for his spot, or he decides to leave for pastures new.
