Left Back: Nico Schulz

Full backs are a very important part of Lucien Favre’s game-plan, so it’s no surprise that Borussia Dortmund splashed big money to sign Nico Schulz, an established left back, both in the Bundesliga and for Germany.

Schulz is coming on the back of an impressive campaign for both club and country, and will take over the left back role at the Westfalenstadion this season.

Both Julian Nagelsmann and Joachim Löw largely used Schulz as a wing back, so it will be interesting to see how he fares in a deeper role, and with a little less protection. But Favre could also switch to a back three, just as he did for Friday’s friendly, now that he has more options at his disposal.
