Borussia Mönchengladbach
Despite being in the title race till December, a poor second half of the season saw Borussia Mönchengladbach slip down to fifth place and miss out on Champions League football. The Foals go into the new campaign with a new head coach at the helm, with the very talented Marco Rose arriving from RB Salzburg.
Known for his ability to get the best out of his players and for blooding young talent into the first team, Rose will be an exciting new addition the Bundesliga. The task for him will be simple – to get Mönchengladbach back in the UEFA Champions League, while enjoying a good run in the Europa League.
Gladbach have lost Thorgan Hazard to Borussia Dortmund, but have replaced him with Schalke’s Breel Embolo, while the highly rated Marcus Thuram has also arrived from Guingamp. Other than that, they haven’t made too many changes to their side, with RB Salzburg’s Stefan Lainer the only other notable arrival.
Key Players
With Hazard gone, last season’s top scorer Alassane Plea will have a big role to play for the Foals. The Frenchman and his goals will be key in Gladbach’s bid to do well in both the Bundesliga and the Europa League. Gladbach’s talented midfield duo, Florian Neuhaus and Mickaël Cuisance, will also be hoping for their breakthrough campaigns this season. Both Neuhaus and Cuisance are rated very highly, and it will be interesting to see how they fare under Marco Rose.
