Borussia Dortmund got off to a great start on the opening weekend of the new season. Here we take a look at how the other 17 teams fared.

Borussia Dortmund opened up their Bundesliga season with a thrilling 5-1 win against Augsburg. Dortmund didn’t have the start they wanted, conceding in the first minute of play. Conceding so early certainly woke them up, because after the goal it was all Dortmund. Alcacer pulled one back for Lucien Favre’s side just two minutes later before a second half barrage sealed the game for Borussia Dortmund. Reus, Sancho and Brandt also scored in the victory, giving the Black and Yellows the perfect start to their campaign.

Bayern Munich opened the season with a draw against Hertha Berlin, the final score being 2-2. Hertha actually could have walked away with all 3 points potentially if Marko Grujic hadn’t dragged Lewandowski down for absolutely no reason, conceding a penalty. Lewandowski scored twice for Bayern and Lukebakio and Grujic scored for Berlin. Bayern dropping points at home is massive for Dortmund.

Bayer Leverkusen narrowly beat Paderborn in what turned into a crazy start to the game. Both teams scored 2 goals each in the opening 25 minutes. Loen Bailey and Kai Havertz scoring early for Leverkusen and Sven Michel and Streli Mamba each responded in turn for the newly promoted Paderborn. In the end Kevin Volland won the game for Leverkusen, scoring in the 69th minute. Wolfsburg started their Bundeliga campaign with a win against FC Koln, with Maximilian Arnold and main man Wout Weghorst scoring for the home side. Simon Terodde scored in injury time to grab a consolation for Koln.

Fortuna Dusseldorf surprised Werder Bremen, beating them 3-1 away from home. Rouwen Hennings opened the scoring for Dusseldorf before Johannes Eggestein equalized for the hosts. It was however short lived as Kenan Karaman and Kaan Ayhan put the game to bed for Dusseldorf. Freiburg dispatched of Mainz with relative ease, beating them 3-0. Lucas Holer, Jonathan Schmid and Gian-Luca Waldschmidt scored for Freiburg. Waldschmidt will be a player to watch this season after his unbelievable performances at the U21 Euros for Germany.
