Centre Backs: Mats Hummels and Stefan de Vrij

While Borussia Dortmund’s defense has struggled so far this season, Inter Milan’s defense has been their biggest strength.

Still, Mats Hummels gets the nod here as a result of his exemplary displays for the Black and Yellows. The 30 year old has arguably been Borussia Dortmund’s best player so far this season, and his man of the match performance against Barcelona on Matchday 01 showed that he is still one of the few world class centre backs in the world.

Inter Milan have some exceptional defenders, so this is a very tough call. Milan Škriniar and Diego Godin have both started the season really well, but Stefan de Vrij is our pick as he has been more consistent all round so far this season. Not only is he strong with the ball at his feet, his no nonsense approach makes him really hard to beat, as many attacking players have already found out this season.
