Borussia Dortmund pulled off a huge coup by completing the signing of RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland yesterday. But not everyone was a winner from the transfer.

Haaland arrives at the Westfalenstadion on a fee of 20 million euros, having signed a four and a half year contract with Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian international is set to play a key role for the Black and Yellows. And if his performances in the first half of the season for RB Salzburg are anything to go by, he will be a steal for Lucien Favre’s side.

Here are three winners and two losers from Borussia Dortmund’s signing of the highly rated Erling Haaland.

Winner: Michael Zorc

Michael Zorc has done it again. The Borussia Dortmund sporting director has proved time and time again just why he is one of the best in the business. And he has continued his exemplary work with the signing of Erling Haaland.

Even though mega-rich clubs like Manchester United and Juventus were in the race to sign Haaland, Zorc surprised everyone by pulling off the signing of the wanted man.

A fee of 20 million euros for a striker with world-class potential is undoubtedly a bargain for Borussia Dortmund. Even if he only stays for 2-3 years, Haaland could easily fetch the club a profit in the range of 100 million euros.

And even if there is a surprise drop off in form and Haaland fails to deliver, the low fee means that there isn’t much pressure on him or the club.

After his impressive transfer dealings in the summer, Michael Zorc has pulled off another masterclass to bolster Borussia Dortmund’s squad in the biggest area that needed addressing.
