Borussia Dortmund have made a bid worth 40 million euros for Juventus centre back Merih Demiral, reports in Italy say.

Borussia Dortmund have been very busy in the transfer market so far, having already signed Erling Haaland and sold Julian Weigl. It was reported that the BVB bosses weren’t planning on any more incomings this month. But according to Gianluca di Marzio, the club have made a bid worth 40 million euros for highly rated Juventus centre back Merih Demiral.

The report says that Juventus have also received an offer worth 30 million euros from Premier League side Leicester City. But Di Marzio adds that the Italian giants aren’t looking to sell Demiral this month.

The 21 year old only joined Juventus in the summer for a fee of 18 million euros from Sassuolo. He was hardly used in the first few months of the season, but has started in each of his side’s last four games.

Demiral is considered to be one of the most talented young defenders in Europe, and Juventus will be keen to keep hold of him despite the high interest from a number of clubs.

Borussia Dortmund currently have four centre backs in their ranks. Mats Hummels and Manuel Akanji have been heavily used, while Dan Axel Zagadou has also come into the team since the formation change to a back three. Fourth choice centre back Leonardo Balerdi has been limited to just two substitute appearances so far this season.

With Juventus not looking to sell Demiral, signing him won’t be easy unless the player shows a willingness to move. It will be interesting to see if the Turin based side change their mind and decide to cash in on him in the coming weeks.
