Erling Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge Haaland, expects his son to stay at Borussia Dortmund for many years, but hopes that fans will be patient with the highly rated striker.

Borussia Dortmund beat the likes of Manchester United and Juventus to complete the signing of RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland for a fee of 20 million euros last month. The 19 year old has already joined up with his new teammates and is currently taking part in the club’s warm weather training camp in Marbella.

Alf-Inge Haaland, who played for the likes of Leeds United and Manchester City has now commented on his son’s move to the Westfalenstadion. In an interview with Sport1, Haaland said:

"“We expect Erling to play for BVB for many years with success. He is only 19 years old and will probably need some time to find his way in the Bundesliga.”“I hope the BVB fans will be patient with him. If they give him time to adapt, he will love them – and they will love him. We will all support him in the coming years”"

Although Alf-Inge Haaland expects his son to stay with the Black and Yellows for years to come, there have already been rumours surrounding a release clause in his contract.

According to the Athletic and BILD, Haaland does have an exit clause in his contract, but it is way more than the €60 million that was reported by the English media.

Haaland would not have been a Borussia Dortmund player in the first place though, had Barcelona not decided to pass up on the opportunity to sign him last year. According to AS, the Catalan giants were looking to sign a back-up striker for Luis Suarez last January, and had the chance to sign Haaland, who was at Molde at the time. But they felt that Haaland was too unpolished, and signed Kevin Prince Boateng instead.
