When the #SanShow is over: Who can Borussia Dortmund buy to eventually replace Jadon Sancho?
Milot Rashica
As a player that has really grown in reputation in his last couple seasons in the Bundesliga, Milot Rashica is fast becoming one of the Bundesliga’s hot prospects. Werder Bremen’s dynamic forward first joined the Bundesliga aside back in the 2017-2018 season after a two year spell in the top flight of Dutch football with Vitesse.
His first season in the Bundesliga was a quiet one, with the Kosovar international scoring only one goal for Bremen in the league. The second season would see his numbers improve to 9 goals and 5 assists, and his output has only continued to rise. In 12 games for Bremen this season, Rashica has a total of 8 goals and 3 assists in the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, an excellent tally that shows his growth as a player.
In Milot Rashica, Dortmund wouldn’t be exactly getting a like for like replacement, but he does possess quite a few of the traits Die Schwarzgelben’s current star is so coveted for. “Rocket Man”, as the Kosovo international has been dubbed, brings to the fore a pair of fancy feet and an eye for goal that has attracted attention from clubs around the world. In addition to Dortmund, Rashica has caught the eyes of a number of Premier League clubs.
Rashica would provide the club with a Bundesliga tested attacker ready to cause damage to even the league’s top teams. He has actively made a habit of scoring against the likes of Bayern Munich, which is an additional plus for this Dortmund side. His performance for Werder Bremen in their most recent clash against Bayern is a great example of what he can bring to the forefront.
On more than one occasion Rashica was able to carve open the Bavrian’s defensive line using his pace and cunning trickery. His and Bremen’s only goal of the match would come from in between two Bayern defenders, a powerful shot rocketing past Neuer into the top right quadrant of the net. With pace, cunning, and power such as this, Rashica would fit perfectly into the Dortmund starting XI.
In terms of feasibility, Rashica’s current market value stands at 36 million euros, but his transfer value would be closer to the 40 million mark, should any club look to pull the trigger. With the money received from the sale of Sancho, this would be feasible.
Dortmund have yet to shell out such a sum for a player, however. Even the likes of Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard were bought for sums closer to 30 million euros, so it would likely fall onto the shoulders of Michael Zorc to work his magic to try and strike a bargain for the player.
