Both Erling Haaland and Marco Reus took part in full training today as Borussia Dortmund ramped up preparations for Saturday’s game against Augsburg.
After their week long training camp in Marbella, the Borussia Dortmund players returned to training at the Brackel training centre today for an early morning session. Head coach Lucien Favre said yesterday that Erling Haaland and Marco Reus were both doubts going into the Augsburg game.
But according to Ruhr Nachrichten, both Haaland and Reus took part in the entire training session today with the rest of the players.
Ruhr Nachrichten add that Reus had a bit of a scare when he crouched on the floor holding his ankle at one point. But in the end it turned out to be nothing, and the Borussia Dortmund captain was able to complete the entire session without any discomfort.
New signing Erling Haaland was able to get through the entire session without showing any signs of the knee issues that bothered him in Marbella.
Youngster Gio Reyna, who has recently been promoted to the first team, also took part in the session.
The only two first-team players who weren’t involved in the session are Thomas Delaney and Marcel Schmelzer, who trained individually. Both players are doubtful for Saturday’s game. Ruhr Nachrichten say that both Reus and Haaland should be available to feature against Augsburg.
Having both Reus and Haaland back in full training is a big boost for Borussia Dortmund as they prepare for a title assault in the second half of the season. The Black and Yellows are fourth in the Bundesliga standings, seven points behind leaders RB Leipzig, heading into the rückrunde.
