Borussia Dortmund Player Ratings from 5-3 win over Augsburg: Erling Haaland steals the show with debut hat-trick
By Tushar Bahl
Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick off the bench as Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat Augsburg 5-3.
Despite dominating the game from the start, Borussia Dortmund were made to pay for their missed chances when Florian Niederlechner gave Augsburg the lead in the first half. The hosts doubled their advantage moments after the start of the second half thanks to a thunderous Marco Richter strike.
Julian Brandt pulled a goal back for Borussia Dortmund, but Niederlechner doubled his tally to make it 3-1 just six minutes later.
The goal prompted Lucien Favre to bring on Erling Haaland, and the Norwegian international scored his first goal just three minutes after coming on. Jadon Sancho then equalised for Der BVB, before Haaland scored twice to turn the game around and complete his hat-trick.
It was a crazy start to 2020 for Borussia Dortmund, but they will be delighted with the three points. Here are the player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from the game.
Roman Bürki (5.5/10)
He was too far outside his goal, and that allowed Marco Richter to take on the shot from long range for Augsburg’s second. But there’s not much Bürki could have done with that strike. He also didn’t stand much of a chance with Augsburg’s other two goals.
