The Bundesliga wrapped up their first weekend back from the winter break, with Dortmund sealing a massive comeback win against Augsburg.
Borussia Dortmund had a tougher than required victory over Augsburg on Saturday after falling behind 3-1 in the second half. Augsburg scored the first two goals of the game through Florian Niederlechner and Marco Richter. Julian Brandt answered back quickly after the second goal scoring less than three minutes later. Once again though, Dortmund found a way to concede a third goal and Augsburg had seemingly put the game out of reach. Enter Haaland, who would go on to score a second half hat-trick in 23 minutes leading Dortmund to victory. Jadon Sancho also found the back of the net, picking up right where he left off before the break.
The Friday game saw Schalke dispatch of Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 through goals by Suat Serdar and new signing Michael Gregoritsch. That loss brings Gladbach within Dortmund’s reach, now only ahead of them by two points. Dortmund will need to continue piling up points if they’re going to catch the three teams ahead of them.

RB Leipzig faced Union Berlin in the late game and actually fell behind to start with Marius Bulter scoring 10 minutes in for Berlin. It wasn’t meant to be though, Timo Werner and Marcel Sabitzer scored twice in 6 minutes to regain control of the game. Bayer Leverkusen against Paderborn was the final game of the weekend and it was Peter Bosz’ side who came out on top. Dennis Srbeny clawed one back for Padeborn but Kai Havertz killed off any notion of a comeback in the 75th minute.
