Tomáš Rosický (January 2001)

Rosický joined Borussia Dortmund from boyhood club Sparta Praha in January 2001, becoming the most expensive player in Bundesliga history at that time. He didn’t let his young age or high prize tag faze him, and played a key role in Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga title win in his first full season with the club.

Rosický’s intelligence and technical ability meant that he was a handful for any defender to deal with. The little Mozart continued to cause havoc on the pitch, despite the club’s troubles off it. His ability to glide past opponents and orchestrate the game for his side made him a truly special player.

Although he struggled with a number of injuries during his time at Dortmund, Rosický still managed to get 24 goals and 46 assists in 189 appearances for the club.

With the club in financial trouble, Rosický was sold to Arsenal for a cut-price fee. Still, the Czech maestro is remembered with great fondness in Dortmund, and he remains one of the most talented players to ever play for the club.
