Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a massive 5-3 come back win after going down 3-1 in the second half last weekend against Augsburg. There were clear signs that the issues that plagued Dortmund in the first half aren’t gone, but the introduction of new signing Erling Haaland changed everything. Haaland coming on and scoring a 23 minute hat-trick gave Dortmund a glimpse of what their new front man can do.

We could easily see a change in formation with the emergence of Haaland along with the injury to Dan-Axel Zagadou. It seems as though the three at the back system’s success is contingent of having all three of Zagadou, Hummels and Akanji available.

FC Köln

FC Köln are enjoying an exceptional run of form. With only six wins in the Bundesliga through 18 Bundesliga games, four of those six have come in their past five games. They haven’t come against easy opposition either, as the Billy Goats have beaten Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen, Frankfurt and Leverkusen all in succession.

Jhon Cordoba has been the focal point of Köln’s success, he has notched four goals in his past four games. Dortmund’s defense will need to be much better to keep him and the Köln attack at bay with their recent success.
