Borussia Dortmund 5-1 FC Koln: Three takeaways from the game
Reus finds his form again
Marco Reus had a game to forget against Augsburg and faced some criticism from fans for it. This was a perfect game for Reus to bounce back and he did exactly that, notching a goal and assist.
He also sprung Sancho on the run that resulted in Dortmund’s first goal. It wouldn’t have been too hard to expect Reus to bounce back from his poor performance, he isn’t the type of player who gets into long runs of poor form, he just has too much quality.
Reus’ impact in this game is undeniable, he was all over the field. Not only the goal involvement, Reus was constantly dropping deep into the midfield next to Brandt to help get around Koln’s press in the first half. He worked tirelessly for the team as he so often does.
As the most important player on the Dortmund squad, Reus will have sky high expectations to push for the Bundesliga title in the second half of the season. And don’t be surprised if he leads his team to success this year.
