Erling Haaland is said to have a release clause worth 75 million euros in his Borussia Dortmund contract, reports in Germany say.
Erling Haaland has made quite an impact since making the move to Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian international has yet to make his first start for the club, but he has already found the net five times in two appearances off the bench.
A lot has been reported about Haaland’s contract details in recent weeks, including the fact that he has a release clause in his deal. Now, SportBILD say that Haaland’s contract has an exit clause of 75 million euros. But the clause will not come into effect during this summer’s transfer window.
They add that Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola wanted a release clause of 50 million euros in his contract, but the BVB bosses convinced them to increase their ask. SportBILD also claimed a few weeks ago that Haaland’s release clause will become active in 2022.
The 19 year old signed a four and a half year deal after agreeing to join Borussia Dortmund from Austrian side RB Salzburg for 20 million euros last month.
SportBILD describe the release clause as a win-win situation. Even if Haaland decides to leave Borussia Dortmund early, this clause would help the club recoup all the money they paid for him, including the salary, agent commissions, special payments and bonuses. While Haaland gets to stay in control of his career.
Haaland could be in line to make his full debut for Borussia Dortmund this weekend, when they take on Union Berlin to the Westfalenstadion.
