Defensive Solidity

Borussia Dortmund have gotten better defensively each game so far in the second half of the season. Not getting off to the best start against Augsburg, they improved against Koln and although it wasn’t perfect it was much better. In this one, Dortmund’s back line was fantastic. They weren’t put under immense pressure too often because they played so well as a team but Dortmund’s back line was in control the entire game.

The only iffy period was a 10-15 minute span in the second half where Dortmund struggled to string passes together. That was more down to Union Berlin’s high press than Dortmund’s poor play. With Dortmund’s defense being the main issue in the first half of the season hopefully they can continue to improve and build up their automatism for when they face tougher tests down the road.
