Borussia Dortmund suffer massive blow as Marco Reus is ruled out for four weeks

The sense of deja vu continues for Borussia Dortmund with Marco Reus set to be out for a while after suffering a muscle injury last night.
Marco Reus was subbed off in the 89th minute of Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 defeat to Werder Bremen last night in the DFB Pokal. It has now been revealed that the Dortmund skipper will not be able to train for the next four weeks.
As a result of his injury, Reus will now miss several key games, including the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie against Paris St. Germain.
The news comes exactly one year after Reus was subbed off with an adductor injury against the same opponent in the same round of the same competition. Reus ended up missing the next four games, and Borussia Dortmund’s season started to unravel. But it looks like Lucien Favre did not learn from his failure to rotate last season.
If Reus manages to return to training in a month’s time, he could return to the team for the trip to Borussia Monchengladbach on March 07, or for the second leg of the Champions League tie against Paris St. Germain four days later.
With five games to come in the next four weeks, Reus’ injury is a massive blow for Borussia Dortmund.
With the Dortmund talisman out injured, Lucien Favre could call upon Thorgan Hazard or Mario Gotze to take his place in the team. Gio Reyna, who scored his first goal in professional football last time, could also get the chance to start.
While another option could be to play Julian Brandt further forward in the number ten role, with new signing Emre Can coming into the midfield alongside Axel Witsel.
