Gio Reyna Scores first Borussia Dortmund goal

Gio Reyna scored his first professional first team goal with Borussia Dortmund against Werder Bremen and it was an absolutely stunning strike. Reyna has seen a nice bump in playing time since the winter break and his impact came to a climax in this one. His goal was unbelievable, tip toeing around three Bremen defenders before curling an outrageous shot past Pavlenka into the far top right corner.

This will be amazing for Reyna’s confidence as he gets more and more settled into the first team. This combined with the injury to Reus will likely have Gio Reyna making his first Borussia Dortmund start in the coming weeks. His rise is eerily similar to another American, Christian Pulisic, who burst into Dortmund’s first team after a January winter break as a 17 year old. Reyna’s potential is sky high and it will be very exciting to see him continue to improve.
