After being shocked by relegation threatened Werder Bremen in the DFB Pokal on Tuesday, Borussia Dortmund received a further blow after it was revealed that Marco Reus would be out for at least a month.

Despite that defeat, Borussia Dortmund have made an excellent start to the rückrunde. They also have an excellent recent record against Saturday’s opponents Bayer Leverkusen, having beaten them in each of their last four meetings, scoring 15 goals in the process.

With Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig facing off on Sunday, Borussia Dortmund will view the Leverkusen game as a must win one as they look to close the gap to the league leaders.

Leverkusen responded to last weekend’s defeat to Hoffenheim with a narrow win against second division side Stuttgart in the Pokal earlier this week. They currently lie fifth in the league table, five points behind third placed Borussia Dortmund.

Peter Bosz’ side are fighting for a spot in the Champions League places. And the Dutchman will be aiming to improve his record against his former employers with a win on Saturday.

Leverkusen do not have the best of home records this season, having won just four of their ten games so far at the BayArena.
