Manuel Akanji (2/10)

Akanji had a torrid time playing at right back today. He was too weak and allowed Volland to get past him far too easily for the first goal. Then he just stood there and failed to stop the cross coming in for Leverkusen’s second.

He improved slightly in the second half, but overall it was a poor display that proved to be very costly to the side. Any other coach would have dropped him by now, considering how consistently error-prone he has been this season.

Mats Hummels (6/10)

Hummels made it 1-1 for Borussia Dortmund with an excellent header in the first half. Defensively, he made some solid tackles and important interceptions. But he also let Lars Bender get in front of him and head home Leverkusen’s winner late on. That soured what was overall a very decent display.

Dan Axel Zagadou (5/10)

Zagadou wasn’t as solid and composed as he has been so far this season. He had a few sloppy and careless moments in defence, but none that actually cost the team. He also completed the majority of his passes during Dortmund’s build-up play.

Raphael Guerreiro (7.5/10)

Guerreiro was once again one of Borussia Dortmund’s best players. He scored a goal, won the majority of his duels, worked hard defensively, and caused problems going forward from left-back. Another consistent performance by the Portuguese international.
