Emre Can (7/10)

This rating would have been a lot lower had it not been for his excellent goal. Can had only played 280 minutes of football this season before today. And that was showing in his performance, as he looked rusty and off the pace from the get go. He started to cramp in the second half, and Favre should have taken him off a lot sooner than he did.

Overall, Can showed great commitment and desire, which are promising signs despite his fitness troubles.

Axel Witsel (5/10)

Witsel had an excellent chance to level the game for Borussia Dortmund late on, but he fired his header over the bar. He also had a good chance in the first half. But he missed, and Leverkusen equalised a minute later.

Julian Brandt (6/10)

Playing against his former club, Brandt put in a decent performance in the first half and looked lively in the number ten role. But he was subbed off at half time, possibly with an injury after getting on the end of Lars Bender’s crunching tackle earlier in the game.
