Con: The timing isn’t great

We are approaching the business end of the season, and fixtures are coming thick and fast. With Borussia Dortmund still in the race for the Bundesliga title, one has to wonder whether sacking Favre would increase or decrease the chances of lifting the Meisterschale come May.

As mentioned earlier, Borussia Dortmund will struggle to find a quality manager who is willing to come in at this stage of the season. And sacking Favre for a temporary replacement would be sacrificing the season.

This is Borussia Dortmund’s best chance of winning the Bundesliga title in ages. And they cannot afford to sacrifice their season. If the BVB bosses do decide to sack Favre, they will need to make sure that they can get someone in who can keep them in the title race going into the final few games of the season.

The winter break would have been the ideal time to switch managers, but Borussia Dortmund did not pull the trigger then. Sacking Favre now could be a major risk at this stage of the season. And that could save him, at least until the end of the season
